Mariedl, a gigantic story

Text and illustrations by Laura Simonati

Mariedl lived on top of a mountain. She was so gigantic that everyone stared at her. Snickering and mockery were her daily lot. So when a little moustachioed man appeared and offered her to join his circus, Mariedl followed him. He would take her to all the cities of Europe, she would be the highlight of his show!

Unfortunately, once on stage, Mariedl was disappointed. All the spectators saw her as a monster. So with her new friends, the lion man, the tattooed woman and Victor, the strongest being in the world, she hatched a plan to escape and live a happy life.

Based on a true story, this is an exciting and touching tale, and a graphic accomplishment.
